1. Samet Nangshe Viewpoint

Already in Phang Nga province, about an hour and a half's drive. One of the best views over the bay and its limestone islands. Come at sunrise, when mist hangs over the water.
Hours: opens at 5:00 — in time for sunrise · Entry: ฿30 on foot, ฿90 with a pickup ride up
2. Koh Yao Noi

A quiet island between Phuket and Krabi: villages, rice fields, empty beaches and views of the bay's cliffs. Boats leave from Phuket's north-east. A day trip works, but staying overnight is better.
Boats from Bang Rong Pier: longtail ฿100–200 (60–75 min), speedboat ฿400–550 (30–60 min) · speedboats at 9:30, 11:00, 13:30 and 17:00
3. Bang Rong Pier and the mangroves

The island's north-east: mangrove forests, floating seafood restaurants and boats to the bay islands. Local life rather than tourist Phuket.
Entry: free · restaurants and boats are paid separately
4. Bang Pae Waterfall and the Gibbon Rehabilitation Project

Khao Phra Thaeo National Park is the last large patch of rainforest on the island. Next to the waterfall trail is a centre that returns gibbons to the wild. The waterfall looks best in the rainy season.
Park: 8:00–17:00, entry ฿200 (children ฿100) · Gibbon centre: 10:00–16:00, free, donations welcome
5. Nai Yang Beach and Sirinat National Park

A long beach in the north with local cafés in the shade of casuarina trees. Nearby is Mai Khao Beach, where planes come in low to land.
Beach: free · National park zone: ฿200 (children ฿100), ticket office 8:30–16:30
6. Old Town and the Sunday market

Phuket Town: Sino-Portuguese shophouses, Soi Rommanee, coffee shops and galleries. On Sunday evenings a walking street market with street food runs along Thalang Road. Locals call it Lard Yai — "the big market".
Market: Sundays 16:00–22:00 · Entry: free
7. Khao Rang Hill

A viewpoint above Phuket Town overlooking the city, Chalong Bay and the sunset. At the top there are restaurants with a view and free parking.
Hours: open 24/7, best at 17:00–18:30 · Entry: free, free parking
8. Ya Nui Beach and the Windmill Viewpoint

A small beach in the south near Promthep Cape. Corals close to shore for snorkelling, and a viewpoint over Nai Harn with far fewer people than at Promthep.
Entry: free
9. Koh Sirey
Connected to Phuket by a bridge. Home to the Chao Leh sea nomads, with a reclining Buddha temple on the hill. A quiet place few people know about.
Entry: free
10. Rawai Seafood Market

Buy fresh seafood at the market and have it cooked next door for a small fee. Boats to the nearby islands leave from here too.
Hours: 11:00–21:00 · Cooking: from ฿100 per kg, usually ฿100–200 depending on the dish
